The Back to health chiropractic clinic was founded in November 2006 in Shelly beach by Dr Duane Wood.

In March 2022, Dr Duane Wood made the decision to emigrate back to Scotland.  This decision opened the great opportunity for my family and I to relocate to the South coast, and to become the new owner of the practice.

I grew up in Alberton, Johannesburg.  Curiosity in the health field started early on in my high school career.  Chiropractic therapy had become of particular interest to me when my father was experiencing acute lower back pain and had little relief with pain medication.  After seeking chiropractic treatment, his back pain was alleviated, and surgery was avoided.  To see his quality of life improve, was a testimony building experience, and the journey for a career in chiropractic began.

My studies for a master’s degree in chiropractic began in 2007 and was completed in 2014.  The degree required completing a two-year community service for the University, and an internship program for the Allied health professions council of South Africa.

I opened my first practice in 2015 in Bedfordview, alongside practicing for a clinic in Centurion.  In 2017, I relocated to Hillcrest, where I worked as an associate at Balance sport and wellness in Pietermaritzburg.  In 2019, I started working from a home-based practice in Hillcrest.

In 2020, the Professional board of chiropractic and osteopathy selected me as the regional Co-Ordinator for Kwa-Zulu Natal. 

I am a registered chiropractor with the Allied health professions council of south Africa, as well as a member of the Chiropractic associations council of South Africa.

My practice is family orientated.  The clinic is open to all ages who seek chiropractic therapy.
